What it costs, and who pays for it.
What a person pays for adult family home care depends on how much help they actually need, and in Washington a DSHS assessment sets the level of care — for anyone on Medicaid it also sets what the state will pay. Published guides put adult family home room and board across Snohomish County at roughly $3,000 to $5,500 a month, with higher figures for memory care or a high level of daily assistance; those are county-wide third-party benchmarks and not a Bear Care AFH II price. Families pay privately, or through Medicaid — Apple Health, most often under the COPES waiver — and some offset the cost with VA benefits or a long-term care policy. Bear Care AFH II accepts Medicaid as well as private pay; the conditions differ depending on whether Medicaid is already in place at admission or begins later. DSHS and Area Agency on Aging case managers, hospital discharge planners and placement agencies are welcome to contact the home directly.
