In a single household licensed for up to 6 residents, that kind of attention is practical rather than aspirational.
Highly Personalized Care
Before anyone moves in we spend time learning how they actually live — the routines they have kept for years, the preferences they hold, their history, what they still do for themselves and where they would rather have a hand. Support is built around that, and changed as it changes.
Proactive Wellness
A household of six is small enough to notice things early — appetite, sleep, mood, how steady someone is on their feet. What we see we share promptly with the family and with the resident’s own doctors and case manager, so decisions are made with current information rather than in hindsight.
Family Integration
Families are not visitors to a process. You are welcome in the home, you hear how the days are actually going, and you stay part of the decisions about your person’s care rather than being informed of them afterwards.
Noticing a change early and passing it on is something a household of six can do well. It is not a promise about anyone's health — medical decisions stay with the resident's own doctors, and we work to keep them informed.
What Is an
Adult Family Home?
“An adult family home is a residential home in which a person or persons provide personal care, special care, room, and board to more than one but not more than six adults who are not related by blood or marriage to the person or persons providing the services.”

A house, not a facility
An adult family home is an ordinary residential house in a residential neighbourhood. That is the legal definition, not a description of style.
Six residents at most
Washington caps an adult family home at six residents. Bear Care AFH II is licensed for up to 6.
Licensed by the state
Homes are licensed and inspected by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. Ours is licence #754906.
A home may also carry specialty designations recorded on its licence. Bear Care AFH II carries Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Dementia. If you are comparing homes, the designations on each licence are a factual detail worth checking directly against the state record.

A calm, familiar household, where routines stay predictable and support is close at hand.
Much of what helps is simply a steady household. Days keep a predictable shape, the same small group of people is around, and there is somewhere quiet to go when the house feels like too much.

The starting question is what someone already does for themselves, and what they would like to keep doing. Support fills in around that rather than replacing it.

Dementia
A small, unhurried setting where surroundings and routines stay consistent and familiar.
Familiarity does a great deal of the work. One house, the same rooms, the same faces and an unhurried pace mean less of the day has to be relearned.

Bear Care AFH II holds these three designations and no others. It is not a hospice, palliative care, post-stroke rehabilitation, skilled nursing or therapy provider, and it does not manage insulin or advanced diabetic care. If a need falls outside what this home is licensed for, we will say so rather than take it on.

Wi-Fi & Entertainment
Wi-Fi throughout the home, televisions in the living room and in resident bedrooms, and the quieter company of music, reading and conversation.
Housekeeping & Laundry
Bedrooms and shared rooms kept up day to day, with personal laundry and bed linen done in the home.
Family Visiting Areas
Families are welcome to visit in the living room, at the dining table or out on the covered patio — wherever the visit suits the day.

Both Washington Medicaid / DSHS and private pay are accepted. Bear Care AFH II makes no claim about long-term care insurance or VA benefits — ask us and we will tell you plainly what we can and cannot take.
